    Summary

    The mission of The California Wellness Foundation is to improve the health of the people of California by making grants for health promotion, wellness education, and disease prevention. The Foundation's Advancing Wellness Grants Program is dedicated to advancing wellness in communities, cities and counties, as well as statewide. The Foundation supports direct services, public policy, leadership and capacity building.


    To get a grant, an applicant's proposal must fit into one or more of the Foundation's specific priority areas and serve one or more of their target populations. They fund organizations that are addressing urgent needs people are facing in their communities. Specifically, they focus on low-income communities, people of color, youth, immigrants and residents of rural areas.

    Additional Information

    Grants for core operating cost make up 50% of awarded funds. The Foundation will not consider activities that exclusively benefit the members of sectarian or religious organizations. The Foundation does not provide international funding or fund organizations located outside the United States.

  • Eligibility Details

    Eligible applicants are nonprofit organizations, public agencies, religious organizations and tribal governments.

    Deadline Details

    A Letter of Interest (LOI) is required and accepted on a rolling basis. Successful applicants will be invited to submit a Full Proposal.

    Award Details

    The average grant amount is between $120,000 and $200,000 over three years.
