The Walmart Foundation's philanthropic approach is rooted in the company's mission to create opportunity, so people can live better. Through the philanthropic investments of Walmart.org, the Foundation strives to systematically address some of the biggest economic, environmental, and social challenges faced in the world today. The Walmart Foundation works closely with their grantees to address large scale environmental and social challenges in these priority areas:

• Creating opportunity
• Advancing sustainability
• Strengthening community
• Center for Racial Equity

The Walmart Foundation accepts unsolicited letters of inquiry for the following programs:

• Retail Opportunity: The Foundation's philanthropy is focused on three areas: supporting research and insights on best practices to build mobility in retail and adjacent sectors; investing in building effective and innovative approaches to training and advancement and, engaging and collaborating with other employers to help improve the entire ecosystem.
• Healthier Food for All: Walmart.org strives to improve access and availability to healthier food and support programs that provide nutrition education to increase people's confidence in selecting, preparing and serving healthier foods. While food insecurity exists in all communities, they seek to fund organizations that have the capacity to administer sub-grants and build capacity across networks of organizations to scale proven strategies, test and evaluate place-based efforts or innovative approaches that could have the potential to scale in the future. To be eligible, programs must support underserved and food insecure households.

The Walmart Foundation accepts open applications for the following programs:

• Local Community Support: Each year, our U.S. stores and clubs award local cash grants ranging from $250 to $5,000. These local grants are designed to address the unique needs of the communities where they operate. They include a variety of organizations, such as animal shelters, elder services and community clean-up projects.
• Northwest Arkansas Grant: Arkansas has been home to Walmart since 1962, when Sam Walton opened his first store in the town of Rogers. For the Northwest Arkansas Giving Program, eligible nonprofit organizations must operate within Northwest Arkansas or be affiliates/chapters of larger organizations that operate within the region and whose work directly relates to specific focus areas.

The Walmart Foundation currently has a request for proposals for:

• Center for Racial Equity: The Center for Racial Equity aims to extend the social impact of Walmart's finance Shared Value Network by supporting Black entrepreneurs with existing businesses that supply goods and services to the retail industry, with a goal to help increase their readiness and earnings in order to strengthen and grow their companies. The center will provide grants and assistance to entrepreneurial support organizations to assist Black-owned firms to increase sales. The ultimate goal is to reduce the racial wealth gap by supporting the growth and success of entrepreneurs in the Black community.
